Lazy creative Sundays

Keeping any rhythm in anything seems a bit hard the last year or so. Partly because I have no clear idea of what I want to be doing with my creative outlets, writing and music being the most important, but also coding.

My main go to method is making plans, setting consistency markers and making sure I show up. Well, showing up is the hard part at the moment. Most of the time consistency and showing up are my strong points. Finishing and sharing my weak ones. Everything in between mostly takes care of itself.

Thinking of this dilemma on a lazy Sunday, whilst Autumn has finally arrived, I thought why not write about it.

It’s funny how my energy levels decide whether I am able to show up to the creative parts of my life while on the other hand providing me with energy. Having no energy to begin makes this somewhat hard.

Loving something enough to do it, doesn’t automatically mean I can devote all or a big part of my energy towards these things. Life has some more ordinary tasks as well.

This made me realize that I might need to be doing smaller increments and clear some lazy Sundays and make them lazy creative Sundays. Just writing with a pen and paper with no other intention than getting words on a blank piece of paper. Or writing a single beat on a drummachine.

Rigoureus planning is helping me a lot in daily life and I have been trying the same tactic in the creative domain, which might not be the way to go. It’s not something I really need to do to keep my life going, and the end of the day these are all just, beautiful, hobby’s. There is no need to work on them as if it’s a job or daily must.

Losing the more rigorous side of planning and just carve out time to do anything creative just might do the trick, in getting back to consistency. Time will tell, I am giving it a go.
